IBDP Physics Examiner
Experience assessing student work and understanding how Physics knowledge, reasoning and communication translate into examination marks.
About Mr Dubey Lab
I help students understand Physics deeply, approach unfamiliar problems confidently, and develop the thinking skills needed to succeed in the IB Diploma Programme.
My Approach
It is a way of learning how to observe the world, question assumptions, build models, solve problems, and communicate ideas with precision.
For more than a decade, I have worked with students studying Physics across the IB Diploma Programme and MYP, helping them move beyond memorising equations towards genuine conceptual understanding and confident problem solving.
I am an IBDP Physics Examiner, IB Physics teacher, and educator specialising in IBDP and MYP Physics.
Through Mr Dubey Lab — The IB Physics Lab , I bring together teaching, examiner experience, learning resources and practical examination strategies to help students become better thinkers in Physics.
Expertise
Teaching gives me one perspective. Examining gives me another. I bring both into the classroom.
Experience assessing student work and understanding how Physics knowledge, reasoning and communication translate into examination marks.
Specialising in IBDP Physics SL and HL, with a focus on conceptual understanding, problem solving and examination preparation.
Supporting students in developing scientific thinking, inquiry skills and strong conceptual foundations through the MYP.
Author of Physics for the IB Diploma Programme: Complete Study and Exam Guide for SL and HL.
My Work with the IB
My professional development within the International Baccalaureate includes training and certifications in both IBDP Physics and MYP Sciences.
My IB professional learning includes Category 2 and Category 3 training in IBDP Physics, Category 3 training for the new Physics syllabus, and Category 2 training in MYP Sciences.
Working as an examiner has also given me the opportunity to see patterns across student responses — where students gain marks, where misconceptions appear, and how differences in reasoning and scientific communication affect examination performance.
"I don't want students to simply know what formula to use. I want them to understand what is happening physically, what model describes it, and how they can represent it mathematically."
How I Teach Physics
A successful Physics student needs more than a collection of equations. They need to understand physical models, recognise patterns, solve unfamiliar problems and communicate their reasoning.
Build a clear conceptual picture of what is physically happening.
Identify the appropriate physical model, assumptions and relationships.
Use mathematics, diagrams, graphs and equations to solve the problem.
Check whether the result is physically meaningful and consistent.
Present scientific reasoning clearly and precisely.
The Goal
I don't want students to become dependent on a teacher for every difficult problem. I want them to develop the confidence to approach unfamiliar Physics independently.
The best outcome of teaching is not a student who asks, "Sir, tell me how to solve this."
It is a student who looks at a difficult problem and says, "Let me work it out."
Author
My book, Physics for the IB Diploma Programme: Complete Study and Exam Guide for SL and HL , brings together the approach I have developed through years of teaching and assessment.
It combines concept-focused explanations, worked examples, examination-style questions, Paper 1 and Paper 2 practice, mark schemes, problem-solving strategies and Internal Assessment guidance.

Mr Dubey Lab
An educational platform built around one simple idea: deep understanding creates confident problem solving.
Structured explanations across the IB Physics curriculum.
Practical guidance on examination technique, reasoning and common mistakes.
Notes, practice questions, revision materials and Physics resources.
Personalised support for students studying IBDP and MYP Physics.
The Bigger Purpose
Education has given me the opportunity to work with students from different backgrounds, schools and countries. What continues to motivate me is seeing the moment when something that once seemed impossible suddenly becomes understandable.
A difficult concept clicks. A graph makes sense. A problem that was intimidating becomes manageable. A student who once lacked confidence begins solving independently.
I want every student who learns with me to become a better thinker.
